He was born in Lahijan, Northen Iran, in 1930, where he lived through his childhood and youth years, then happened to be pitched by late professor Mohammad Ali Mjtahedi and proposed for further schooling in Tehran.
Hossein Mahjoubi finished Alborz high school in 1954 and after some years in faculty of Art, Tehran University, received his graduate degree with excellent marks in 1959; During half a century of work within the area of visual arts, he has arranged 40 solo exhibition and participated in tens of group exhibition with Iranian and international artists from all around the world. His 50 years of work and life has produced about 3000 works in sketches, watercolor, oil, calligraphy painting and projects in architecture, urban planning and green spaces.
